Jewellery Product Care Guide

General Care

While our pieces are inspired by the perfectly turquoise beaches of the Turks and Caicos Islands, our leather and semi precious stone bracelets and earrings should never be worn in or exposed to water. Be equally careful and avoid exposure of our jewellery to perfumes, hair products, lotions, soaps, oils, household chemicals and other similar items. We strongly recommend the removal of our jewellery prior to exercising, bathing or cleaning.

Sterling Silver

Jewellery pieces containing sterling silver can be cleaned with a sterling silver polishing cloth. Avoid anything with chlorine water (such as a swimming pool) and rubbing with paper products, which can scratch the silver. Store pieces in a cool dry place away from light and air to prevent excess tarnishing. No matter what, at some point sterling silver and sterling silver plated items will begin to tarnish. Don’t worry about this as your product can be restored to its original shining glory with simple TLC. For pieces containing semi precious stones (such as our leather wrap and naked wrap bracelets), pearls and crystals, we recommend using the polishing cloth only, as the liquid can damage some stones and the leather.

Gold and Silver Plated

As above, we highly recommended you remove pieced before any water based activity, bathing or cleaning. Caring for Plated Jewelry

The nature or plated jewellery requires certain precaution be taken to ensure longevity and beauty. We suggest the following to maintain your pieces:

  • Limit (or better yet avoid) contact with scented products such as perfumes, colognes and lotions contain chemicals that can react with plating and discolor or fade jewelry.
  • Plated jewelry should never be worn during activities that involve water such as showering or pool/beach activities as chlorine and salt water will effect plating. When removing jewellery for these purposes be sure to store in a dry area.
  • Avoid Friction or contact with a hard surface can produce scratches or wear to the piece.

Even if you have taken all the steps above, body chemistry and moisture can also effect a plated piece and a high skin PH balance will greatly speed up wear on a plated item.

When and if necessary, use warm water with a mild, fragrance-free soap to clean plated items. Gently pat dry with a clean cotton or microfiber cloth. Most jewellery cleaners contain chemical elements that will slowly wear and fade plating over time.

Following these steps will help ensure the longevity of your jewelry!
