How did Jonathan propose?
After dating for just a year, we planned to go to Disney for our anniversary and visit some of my family on the way down. We spent our first day at the Magic Kingdom and right before we left, we took a ride on Splash Mountain where Jonathan popped the question just before the final drop! Thank goodness he had a good grip on that ring!
How did you know your dress was the “one”?
When I started my search for dresses, I was working as a bridal consultant and promised myself not to get carried away. After trying on well over 100 dresses, this dress was the only one that my sister looked at me and said, “Daddy will love that one”. My parents live six hours away and couldn’t be a part of planning the wedding, so hearing that my dad would love the dress meant more than anything in the world to me. Bonus: he totally loved the dress! We kept it a secret until 7 a.m. the morning of the wedding. I will always remember the look on my Daddy’s face when he saw me for the first time. Priceless.
What was one of your favourite wedding day moments?
First look with my hubby. It was a moment away from all the stress (the rain had me crying all the way through hair and makeup) where it was just me and him (and the photographers, my mom, and my sister). Jonathan isn’t the most emotional man in the world, so it was a surprise when he started crying. It was by far the most wonderful moment of our day. Not to mention, it was special to share such a private moment with my mom, she has always been my best friend and I could not have done this whole wedding thing without her.
And one of your favourite wedding details?
My wedding gift to my groom was a pair of very realistic Yoda cufflinks. While they aren’t quite my taste, my groom loved them and so did our childhood swim coach (huge Star Wars fans).
