The picturesque town of Stow-on-the-Wold was the setting for Jodie and Matt’s rustic autumn wedding. The bride, who wore Style 4465 from London Bride Couture, as she said ‘I do’ to her groom. We caught up with Jodie to hear more about her special day:
How did Matt propose?
On a beautiful weekend in November, we went to London to watch War Horse at the theatre, which is a beautiful story by the way. Two large glasses of red wine and a lot of tears later (me not Matthew) we changed into our finest attire and hit London town for a meal and drinks. We decided after dinner (Mexican – our favourite) to go on the London Eye. Unfortunately when we got to Westminster Bridge we found the Eye was closed and so was the bridge to traffic because of memorial Sunday the next day. On the train ride home, I won’t lie, I was hoping for a proposal but I thought well, it’s not meant to be yet. I got home, put my stuff away and went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea. I turned around and he was on one knee. Matthew asked me to marry him and I said yes in our first home which is special enough. I did find out later that Matthew had intended to propose on the London Eye, and was mortified to find it was closed.
How did you know your dress was the “one”?
I still replay the moment in my mind. It was my second visit to the bridal store, London Bride Couture. I brought my mum and Mother-in-Law. We tried on a few dresses, all beautiful styles, but they just didn’t suit me. I was getting confused about the type of bride I wanted to be. I remember seeing out of the corner of my eye, a white bundle of joy. I asked to try it on (coming very close to the end of the appointment). Oh my goodness, it was like a warmth of excitement building inside my heart, I had a smile from ear to ear. I acted differently in it and I felt beautiful with an air of a child’s innocence. I didn’t want to be a sultry, sexy bride. I wanted to be a modern traditional bride!
What was your favourite wedding day memory?
The ceremony. Seeing Matthew after a week of being away from him. Saying our vows was very special.
Thank you, Jodie, for sharing your wedding day with us!
